Top 5 Video Countdowns of 2012

It is already the beginning of another year!

Each year, I like to go back through the download statistics and have a look at what have been the most popular video countdowns. You can have a look at the 2011 list here.

This year there have been 12 new countdowns added as well as a book. Having said that, two of the most downloaded countdowns are actually from 2011. Enough said, here are the top 5 video countdowns from 2012.

  1. Green Screen (most popular version: White text, Centred, Clean font)
  2. Ink
  3. Decode
  4. Cascading Dots
  5. Grunge

Thanks all for downloading the countdowns and I hope that they have been really useful for you in whatever context you use them. Thanks to all those who have contributed to the site, whether through alerting me to a mistake or giving some feedback. I appreciate it all!

On on 2013 note, I will no longer be uploading a new countdown every month. There will still be new countdowns added, but it will most likely not be a monthly thing.

Hope you had a wonderful 2012 and I wish you all the best in 2013!

Newest Countdown Requires A Twitter Account

If you’re a regular countdown viewer at Free HD Countdowns, you will have noticed that over the past month or so, the newest countdown has required you to have a Twitter account in order for you to download it. I thought I’d write a short post explaining my reasoning.

Follow Me

I first noticed this system for downloading being used by Dan Stevers for his free download of sermon graphics. I thought to myself “What a great way to get something back for giving away free stuff”. In order to get the resource, you needed to follow Dan on Twitter and send out a Tweet. Easy and well worth it.

I thought this sounded like a good idea and since then have decided to implement it on this site. Here are a few thoughts relating to it’s implementation.

  • I want to grow this site, and people sending out lots of Tweets to their followers is a good way to spread the word. (This is also a cool way to spread the word)
  • Not everyone has a Twitter account, so I limited it to only being the newest countdown that requires an account to download. This way, if you don’t have a Twitter account you can wait a month and still download the countdown for free.
  • Some people may not want to follow my Tweets, and in that case that can unfollow me after they download the countdown. Completely up to them.

I’ve been really encouraged to see lots of Tweets going out about Free HD Countdowns since implementing this, and I’ve also gained a whole bunch of followers. So I think it’s working!

Thanks to all those who have sent out Tweets (and not deleted them!). I endeavour to make great free resources on this site and I hope that over time the site can grow and grow so that more people can experience these resources.

iBook: Free To Download

FreeHDCountdowns.com loves to give away stuff for FREE! Not only video countdowns, but other stuff as well. Like tutorials and…

iBooks!

An iBook (eBook for iPads) has been written called “The How and Why of Video Countdowns” to help you learn more about why you should use video countdowns and how you can use them. There’s also a tutorial at the end of the book to help you create your own video countdown.

This content has been repurposed from blog posts, and included in the iBook are exclusive animations and other interactive features. If you’ve got an iPad, then check it out and download it from the iBooks store. If you don’t have an iPad, then you won’t be able to access all the cool interactive features, but you can still download a PDF version of the iBook for you to read. Enjoy!
